Plaid State of Mind

Today on Pressing Flowers I'm taking my favorite tartan print shirt and adding hints of gold and green into the outfit. When choosing colors to incorporate into my outfits, sometimes I go with the smallest colors in the pattern or print, and really compliment the whole piece by finding those small details and wearing them in a big way.

If you look closely at the top there are subtle hues of green and yellow stripes mixed into the tartan print. I started with the basics: nude flats and black jeggings. After feeling slightly boyish upon trying the outfit on, I knew I had to incorporate some feminine pieces into the look. This tassel necklace will always be one of my favorite, timeless jewelry pieces. My Lilly P. clutch was purchased at the endless summer sale, and my bracelets are a mix from Dry Goods and Leopard and Latte.

I love dressing in more masculine clothes, but I always have to remember to flatter my figure with body hugging bottoms or a pulled back hairdo and some lipstick. Did you catch anything familiar about this post? This is actually the same top I wore in my layering post last week! Get this flannel top from Juliana's Boutique before they're all sold out!
