ABOUT

Welcome to my blog!

A little about this space...

I started a Youtube channel in 2011 and then later this blog in 2013 to 1. serve as a creative outlet to share all things fashion and beauty and 2. can just actual boredom be a 100% valid second explanation?

Voila! Pressing Flowers was born.

Beauty + fashion were huge passions of mine in high school and all through college. I loved sharing where I had found the best deals, my favorite unexpected products and anything else that had to do with buying this and buying that. Once the industry started to pick-up, it was encouraging and of course extremely challenging to break through the sea of content, sponsored posts and suppress the thought, Am I making anything meaningful here?

Jump forward to 2017–  The social scene was so cluttered, my feed was just full of overly produced crap that didn't contain any substance and I couldn't find a real reason why I should keep posting.
Heck, I don't event want to read what I'm creating!

Now–
I ask myself: What's the kind of content I want to see on my feed? What brings me the most joy? What inspires me and inspires others? What stops me during my scroll vortex to read a post that sends me down a rabbit hole?

For me, it's a recipe. It's a book suggestion. It's a beautiful bouquet of flowers, someone's health journey, a birth announcement, a Sunday shopping grocery list, a gorgeous scene from nature. It's someone sharing the worst part of their day, their favorite part of the day. It's allowing yourself to exercise your creativity. It's about being vulnerable.

It's about celebrating and sharing life– preserving memories and pressing flowers, the way social media was intended to be.
